About Lady Jogger

I am not a runner.. hence Lady Jogger. (I am not really a lady either though, so don't let the name fool you!) I signed up for my first 5k on a whim in hopes that it would motivate me to run. It didn't. But, since I had signed up for the race, I had to do it. My family was going on a cruise in March 2011, so I signed up for the Karhu 5k at Miami Beach that was taking place prior to our departure. It wasn't a complete failure.. I did finish the race. It took me 42:07 to complete my first 5k. I didn't really train prior to the race and I didn't run again for almost a year afterward, but something about the race experience stuck with me and made me want to do more.

I never look like I am actually running in pictures!

My mom and I after the 5k.... Wow, my face is red!

Fast forward to January 2012. I made a New Year's resolution to complete the Couch to 5K. I had never actually followed through with a resolution prior to this, but had the same resolution as everyone else - lose weight and get healthy! So I started the program and I actually stuck with it this time. I have no idea what made this time different, but I did it. I completed C25K in March 2012 and ran my second 5K. This time I finished in 35:27 with a pace of 11:25 per mile. Woo hoo! ( I hate when people are like, "I'm so slow, I only ran 8 minute miles!" bllahhh, come run with me... I will show you slow!

Run Rogue 5K

Anyway, so I love to get out and jog and attempt races. The races are the one thing that keep me going. I was able to complete 9 races in 2012 - five 5ks, three 10ks, and a half marathon. My goal for 2013 is to do one race per month and complete 4 half marathons. Also, the reason I started running/jogging, to get to my goal weight!

So, the reason I am starting this blog is to have some accountability and hopefully motivate a few people along the way!

Here are my 2012 races:

Give Thanks Family Fun Run 5k - No official time

That was my 2012! It is funny to look back at the pictures! My first 5k to my half marathon, I lost 30 pounds. You can really tell in the pictures, but you can also tell that I really eased up after the 1/2. I hardly ran at all and have been struggling ever since to get back on track. I gained 10 pounds between the completion of my half and the end of the year! So welcome to my blog and my journey of running/jogging and losing weight. :)
